AUGUST 2022
NEWSLETTER ENTRY FOR AUGUST 2022
Here’s are some career highlights happening across our year levels:
Year 12
The big recent news is that the process for applying to tertiary institutions is now open! Students wishing to continue onto further education are encouraged to establish an account on VTAC and to list up to eight course preferences. Further detailed information about this process can be found in the Wurun Careers Newsletter. Information will also be provided in advisory.
Year 10
Happily most of our students were able to source work experience placements and there have been some positive stories coming out of these work placements!
We sincerely thank the host employers for making the time to introduce our students to a range of industries and roles.
If you require any of the services provided by our hosts, please support them, as they have supported our students.

Year 9
Our year 9 students are participating in a program called Real Industry Job Interviews. This requires students to develop a job application. In October, they will attend a ‘mock’ job interview at Collingwood Town Hall with industry volunteers so that they can experience the process of a job interview. You can read more about RIJI here: http://inllen.org.au/riji/
The majority of year 9 students have also had their Morrisby interview now and printed booklets of their Morrisby reports will be distributed soon.

Wurun Careers Newsletters #9 & 10
We issued our 9th and 10th Wurun Careers newsletters this term. All students can access the newsletter here: https://wuruncareers.com/important-information/school-newsletters
Tertiary Open Days
Students from year 9 are encouraged to make time to attend tertiary open days. They are a great opportunity to get onto a campus and have a look around and learn more about pathways and specific courses at your preferred institution. Look to issue #10 of the newsletter to learn about what to ask at Open Day!
A comprehensive list of Open Days is available on the VTAC website: https://www.vtac.edu.au/opendays.html
