DP Newsletter – Term 3 - Week 2

Year 5 Camp

Our Yr. 5 students will leave for their annual camp next Wednesday morning. Each year the students travel to Thunderbird Park on Tamborine Mountain to work on team building skills and creating a stronger bond with their class mates. Our staff and students are very excited about heading up the mountain and I am sure they will be packing some extra warm clothes. We look forward to hearing from them on their return. 

PBC Information Session

Do you have a student entering Year 7 in 2023 or know someone in our catchment area who does? Come along to our upcoming General Enrolment Information Evening to learn why PBC is a great choice.

Please note this session is for local students that reside within the PBC catchment. This is a 'general enrolment' information evening. Parents of students selected for our excellence programs in 2023 are encouraged to attend.

**Sports Excellence trials coming up in August for YR 7 Round 2 for 2023**

Interschool Sport

Our interschool sport rounds continue next Friday 29th of July for a period of 3 weeks to make up for missed games last term. This also means the return to the water for our surfers. If your child has a wetsuit it might be a good idea to pack this for the next few weeks to keep them warm 😊 Yr. 5 students are on camp the first week of interschool sport. Please speak with your child’s coach regarding their draw and any implications with the Yr. 5 students being away (if any). 

2023 Prep Interviews

Prep interviews have begun and we are off to a great start with over 20 interviews been conducted this week! It has been wonderful meeting our newest Palm Beach Preppies and their lovely families. If you have enrolled your child into Prep for next year and have yet to make an interview time, please do so by calling the office on 5520 8333.

Interviews are conducted each morning Mon-Thurs from 8.30-10.45am and are mandatory.

Under 8’s Day Prep and Year 1 Students

Prep and Year 1 will be participating in our annual Under 8’s Day on Friday August 12th. A permission note, see below, went home last week informing parents of this incursion and payment of $6 to be made before Monday 1st August. The payment covers the extra entertainment we have organised this year including a petting farm, magician, balloon artist and face painter. Please see the office if you didn’t receive a permission form and a reminder all payments need to be made through BPoint.

Book Week Celebrations

This year the Book Week theme is ‘Dreaming with Eyes Open’ and celebrations kick off on Monday 22nd August with our Book Parade, so get your thinking caps on it’s costume time! 

On Thursday 25th August we will end Book Week with a production from a theatre company who will perform an adaptation from a Short Listed book for all students from P-6. This production will be free of charge as the school will cover the costs and will be a fantastic way to end our celebrations!

More information will come in regards to the Book Parade in the coming weeks.
