From the

Principal

Dear Parents / Carers,

The school will be closed on Monday 13th June for the public holiday. It will also be closed on Tuesday 14th June for a Curriculum Day. Team Kids will operate on the Curriculum Day.

Perseverance is one of our school values. It is one of our values because it is an important quality for both personal and social success. I undertook some research around the school to see if our students understood the meaning of perseverance.

Perseverance in School Work

Archer in Foundation found it hard to spell out his words when he was doing his writing. He kept saying the word and listening to the sounds and kept trying until he had finished his writing.

When Mia who is in Foundation came back inside from recess,

the idea that she had in her head for writing had, “walked out of her head” but she kept thinking and thinking and finally came up with another good idea.

Nicholas was totally focused on his book in the reading workshop and read for twenty minutes without interruption.

Alissa was doing a tricky piece of writing on dragons and kept playing around with words until she was happy with her word choices.

These students tried harder and harder on some aspect of their learning. They stuck with the task at hand and after some frustration and focus they got the work done and were proud of what they had achieved.

Perseverance in Sport

Sam was playing football and really wanted to show the others that he was a good player by kicking a goal.  Even though he was a bit tired he kept going until he kicked a goal. His mind and legs were focused on kicking that goal.

Perseverance in Everyday Life

Nicole, Nate, Kaylia and Eva were participating in a STEM session when they noticed that a piece of Lego had got stuck under furniture. They tried a range of strategies as a team before they were able to dislodge the piece.

Perseverance is the drive that helps us get past the hard stuff to move forward.

Without perseverance, you will not get far in life. It is the ability to keep going when things get tough.

Each fortnight our students produce the Friday program. Please find included a link to the latest release.
