School Council

Your school council met on Monday night for our monthly meeting. We are back to online for the moment…but I can’t say we really mind too much when it’s so cold outside.

I don’t often comment on our Finance or Education sub-committees as other areas tend to have the ‘exciting’ announcements such as upcoming events. Finance is of course an area that is looked at and discussed every month, it is challenging to run a small school and Weeden is very fortunate to have great financial managers looking after us on staff and council. And this year has seen a large number of policies that need to be reviewed and updated to meet new formatting guidelines, which is keeping our Education sub-committee very busy. So this month I wanted to acknowledge these important and hard working school council members for their contributions to our school.

It was great to hear from Kylie that the plans for Phase 1 of the government funded building works have been finalised and it won’t be too long now before we see work starting to happen. I’m sure the students will be fascinated to see this all take place! There will of course be lots of work to do packing and moving, and in our Facilities and Resources discussion there was the possibility that some parents could lend a hand with this…so stay tuned to see if you can help us out!

We also heard from Kylie about the new and updated Child Safety Standards policies and action plans. Council have been provided with a training presentation to read for discussion at our next meeting, to ensure all council members understand this important topic.

The Community Building Sub-Committee are planning a fantastic night of fun and laughs at the adult only Weeden Heights Rock n Roll Trivia Night. With trivia, games and over $3,500 worth of items up for grabs in prizes and auctions this is a night not to be missed!

As a final thought for the month it was very exciting to see our year 3 - 6 students finally go to camp! I’m sure there were lots of nervous little people on day one but no doubt they will have had an amazing time…especially with the incredible weather they’ve had.

Stay safe, stay warm and get your Trivia Night tickets everyone!
