Prep B

By Lisa Baguley

In Prep B, we have been investigating our school for environmental problems. We focused on rubbish and collected data to guide our thinking. We found that there was rubbish in the bins that could be recycled or reused. This investigation led us in creating our focus question, ‘How can we make people put rubbish in the right bin?’

We brainstormed and decided we needed to teach people about the bins. Using student voice, we chose how we wanted to take action. Working collaboratively in small groups we began drafting what we wanted them to know about rubbish through posters, signs, videos and presentations.

Some of us are making new bins for soft plastic. Some of us designed posters informing others of the correct rubbish to place in each coloured bin at school and some are making presentations to share with classes and at assembly. We hope that by educating the school, we will make a positive impact on our environment and create a cleaner and happier place to live.
