CELEBRATING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE@CSPS
Hello families and carers,
Now that our Foundation students have successfully settled into school we would like to implement some new routines to encourage independence.
As per the school guidelines, students are not permitted in the gallery or classrooms until the bag bell rings at 8:50 am. We ask that you wait with your child outside The Gallery until a staff member opens the door. We would encourage you to drop your child off at the Gallery door and have them bring their belongings into the classroom independently. We will remind them of classroom processes such as putting their red satchels in the tub, etc.
On Thursday and Friday's, The Gallery is open for Breakfast Club from 8:30 to 8:50 am. Breakfast club food is to be consumed in either The Gallery or outside on the step. If your child is going to attend breakfast club, please ensure they do so with enough time to eat.
As The Gallery is a learning space between the hours of 9.00 - 3:30 pm, we kindly ask you to wait outside during these times.
We are so proud of the growth of our students have made this year and look forward to continuing to develop their independence in preparation for Year One.
Thanks,
Foundation Team.
Our Year 5 boys have been discussing the symbolism of the Traditional Maori Weapon "Taiaha" and how it relates to our warrior strengths and respecting our internal weapon as our "inner strengths" that make us great. Building a tribal connection as great kids, we were able to discuss their masculine role as protectors and providers of our tribe or Year 5 family. All students involved agreed that together we are stronger and together we can help each other. Using the "Taiaha" as a symbol of their inner strengths, the boys are sanding, decorating, and etching "sticks" to represent what makes them great men together.
Along with learning about our "inner strengths" the Year 5 Boys performed their own tribal "Haka." (See the video link attached)
