Attendance Matters

Compass attendance notes - Did you know?

The attendance team would like to thank our school community for being so responsive with regards to our attendance note requirements.  Your help is greatly appreciated by all CSPS staff.  Please read the following points of interest regarding attendance marking:

  • When entering an attendance note on Compass, the only item parents may need to adjust is the DATE.  The TIME on a whole day attendance note requires no adjusting.
  • Parents are NOT required to personally enter LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY DEPARTURES via Compass.  These are only entered via the admin office.
  • Extended absences (more than 5 school days) require prior approval.  Please inform the classroom teacher/cranbourne.south.ps@education.vic.gov.au, of extended absences at least two weeks prior to departure.  This will allow time to get the necessary paperwork in place.

Please remember to enter ALL student absences via Compass and if you receive an attendance text, please enter your child's absence on Compass as soon as possible.

Where there are multiple unexplained absences over a Term, families will receive a letter requesting the absences are explained.  It is important that families who receive one of these letters, explain the absences, sign and return the letter to the office by the required date.

We thank you all for your cooperation, Attendance Team

Notify the school of your child's absence

As per DET guidelines, our school will text/call you as soon as practicable on the day if a student is not at school and you haven’t notified the school as to why.  If you are notified by the school that your child is away without a reason, please lodge the absence on Compass or contact us as soon as possible by phone on 9782 2999 or email at cranbourne.south.ps@education.vic.gov.au, to let us know where your child is.

Please remember it is your responsibility to contact us to provide an explanation for your child's absence from school.

Parents are reminded that learning starts in the classroom at 9am each morning.  Please ensure that all students are at school in time to be settled in the classroom by 9am.

Thank you to all our families for working together with us to ensure all students get the best possible learning opportunities in the classroom.
