Principal Report - School Concert

What a fabulous night the annual concert was!  A HUGE thank you to Mrs Chiovitti and everyone who was involved. It is nights like these that truly highlight what a great community we have at CSPS.

Highlights:

  • Student X stating "This day is better than Christmas day."
  • In the foyer an adult stated "It smells like popcorn and happiness."
  • A parent stating "Mrs Corcoran has missed her calling - she should be an actress in Hollywood"
  • Mrs Chiovitti doing the splits on stage.

I just wanted to say how great the school concert was! The kids all did so well and it was so well run and organised (although I'm sure hectic behind the scenes )

The kids had fun and it was genuinely enjoyable to watch all of the performances not just our own kids.

Just wanted to pass on this feedback so you all know how much we all appreciate the effort that goes into making it a special night for the kids and the parents.

In Term 3, the already scheduled/endorsed Curriculum Day (pupil free) is Friday 12th August.

At the recent School Council meeting Wednesday 3 August, an additional pupil free day was approved for Term 3, 2022.

The Department of Education and Training has reached an agreement with unions that teachers are entitled to one professional practice day in each term of 2022.  For Term 3, 2022, it is recommended schools hold the Term 3 professional practice day on the SAME day for ALL staff.

The newly endorsed date is Friday 16th September and will be a pupil free day (last week of Term 3).Note:  Footy day is now Thursday 15th August.

In Term 4, the scheduled/endorsed Curriculum Day (pupil free) is Monday 12th December. (Please note the change of date due to a previous clerical error in notification).

A father of a Foundation 2023 family came in to return an enrolment form and made special mention of our leaders.  He said that his son tends to take to people slowly but he really liked Student X. straight away and it was lovely for them to see..  The father was 'inspired' by the student leaders; Kya and Asher and said that he feels very proud to be sending his son to CSPS next year.

Dear Principals,

Happy Principals’ Day 2022!

TheirCare would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible job you do at all your schools.

At TheirCare we understand the incredible challenges that the last few years have presented to principals and assistant principals. Your hard work, innovation and incredible contribution to the school is greatly admired.

It’s a pleasure to partner with you and your school community, to facilitate OSHC for your families.

Today is your day, and I hope you enjoy the well-deserved recognition!

Best wishes

Student Uniform expectations

The student dress code outlines student dress and appearance expectations.  There has been an increase of Year 5 & 6 students where the length of the tshirt/jumper is longer than the bottom half ie. shorts or skirts.  In fact, some of the students have been altering their uniform appearance once at school and thus parents are not aware.   Can all Year 5 & 6 parents please discuss this with their child/ren.

If a student breaches the Student Dress Code on a recurring basis, a note will be provided to the student and parents by the classroom teacher. If non-compliance with the dress code becomes a continued occurrence, the Principal Class will be informed and a phone call home may be required.

DET Deputy Secretary would like all schools to raise the profile of the Mobile Phone Policy.  The main points of implementation are:

  • Students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours.
  • Exceptions to the policy may be applied if certain conditions are met. Exceptions can be granted by the principal, or by a teacher. Exceptions must be documented.
  • Where students bring a mobile phone to school, the school must provide secure storage.  Year 3 - 6 have been provided with secure storage and staff audit the students, phone type, model, colour etc...
  • Schools will manage non-compliance with their local mobile phone policy in accordance with their existing student engagement polices.

School Council met on Wednesday 3rd August onsite.  Some notables discussions points include:

  • Community feedback per traffic and continued communication with City of Casey and Major Road projects
  • School Policies processes and procedures
  • School Review preparation (Term 1, 2023)
  • Child Safe School Council training
  • Student led conferences feedback and future ideas
  • Student well being and the specialist program of extra curricula events events
  • Profit/loss of School events ie. camps and excursions
  • Workforce planning updates
  • Upcoming fundraising including a school fete in Term 4
