Eden NortonPhysical Education

My name is Eden Norton and I will be teaching primary Physical Education at Saltwater P-9 College in 2023. I completed my Bachelor of Education (P-12) at Victoria University in 2022, majoring in health and physical education and I also have an extensive background knowledge and prior experience in sport science and human movement. I love to lead by example and live a healthy and active life, which is why you will find me running with my dog, hitting the gym, playing a game of netball or instructing reformer Pilates classes, in my spare time outside of school. I am greatly looking forward to joining the Saltwater P-9 College community next year and meeting you all throughout 2023.

Simon WoodsPhysical Education (PE)

Hi Saltwater community, my name is Simon Woods and I am very excited to announce that I will be teaching Physical Education at Saltwater College in 2023.  I have been teaching PE in the western suburbs over the last 5 years and I am

very excited about the opportunity to be working at Saltwater College, as I have heard very positive stories about the school community.

I am a passionate sports teacher and I believe that health and physical education plays a very important role in our daily lives for not only our holistic health, which includes elements of our physical, mental, spiritual and social health.

In my spare time I love playing and watching sports especially soccer, AFL and cricket. I also enjoy spending time outdoors and being at the beach with my family.

I look forward to working with the Saltwater community next year.

Rachael FankhauserArt

Hello Saltwater College students, families and staff, I am Miss Fankhauser or Miss F and I will be joining you next year as a new teacher in the Visual Art team. I am mum to my seven year old daughter who will be a big Year Two girl next year. I love animals and have a pet bearded dragon named Titch. I am very excited to begin my first year of primary teaching, after 10 years of being a kindergarten educator. In my spare time I can usually be found... surprise, surprise.... getting creative and making art with my daughter. My favourites are getting messy with clay on my pottery wheel, making jewellery and painting. I am even standing in front of one of my murals in my photo. I am also a very big book worm and a huge Harry Potter fan and always searching for a new book recommendation. I am very much looking forward to getting creative and artistic with you all and I'll see you in the art room in 2023.

Kerrie O’Brien-Intervention

Dear Saltwater Community, my name is Kerrie O’Brien and I have had the privilege of being an educator for 20+ years. I have been fortunate to work with many amazing students and staff over that time and have held many positions including classroom teacher, Team Leader and PYP Coordinator, mostly at Seabrook Primary School. I was a core member of staff when we established the PYP at Seabrook and am passionate about supporting students and staff in their learning and teaching journeys. I have also been lucky enough to teach (and travel!) overseas. My most important job though, is being a mum to my two beautiful daughters, Amelie, aged 8 and Harriet, who is 4. In my ‘spare’ time, I enjoy spending time with my partner and family, cooking, the café scene, catching up with friends and being a plant mum. I have had a wonderful teaching career so far and am excited about what lies ahead for me! I am very much looking forward to being a member of the Saltwater team and the new adventures that awaits me!

Steve Saxton - Music

I have recently returned to Australia after living in Asia for the last six years, where I taught primary years Music & Performing Arts in IB Schools. When I first graduated from La Trobe University in Bendigo, I taught in local schools where my enthusiasm for community and my philosophy of teaching and learning were shaped. Over the years my curiosity for all things technology persuaded me to explore an IT career and I spent 10 years doing just that. I returned to teaching looking for that amazing community that exists as a teacher. As luck would have it this led to living and working in Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia where I met my wife and stepdaughter. On weekends I’m a passionate singer and songwriter and look forward to reconnecting with like-minded people to write and perform music with.
