Music

Written by Michael Lapiña

I'm so blessed to have been given the opportunity of teaching your children this year.  At the start of every year, our students walk into the Music classroom not know what to expect.  In the short time that they have experienced Music, they have discovered a unique talent within themselves, growing to become more confident in expressing their inner voice.

This has been evident in the number of students that have returned to the Music classroom during Term Four to record their Carols.  Each student has demonstrated so much growth in their confidence and self-awareness, and it was all on display during our recent Carols Event on 14 December.  This was such a fitting way to end our School year, celebrating this festive season with our wider School Community.

On 8 December, our graduating class of Year Six students sang at their Graduation Ceremony, bringing tears to the many that attended.  This showed a great level of maturity from our school leaders, demonstrating their agency in selecting, rehearsing and ultimately performing pieces that connected with their individual experiences gained through their primary school lives at Saltwater.  Congratulations to all those involved in this memorable event.

Speaking of memorable events, our Victorian State School Spectacular Performing Arts students (both dance and voice) will be televised on Channel 7 on 17 December 2022 at 7pm.  It will also be streaming nationally on 7plus for 30 days from the broadcast date.  I encourage you all to watch our students perform on this "Spectacular" stage.

And on a final note, I'll be signing off from Saltwater for the next 12 months.  I wish you all a very safe and joyous holiday, and look forward to seeing you all again when I return in 2024.
