From the Principal

Term 3: Another great start to the term. Thanks to all families for getting their children back into the routines of school life and ready to learn.

New Families: We have a number of new families joining us this term and we welcome them and hope they feel welcome. If you see a new face around the school, please give them a smile and have a chat with them.

Holiday works: As many of you will have seen, we have had extensive fire service work well underway and will have more works continue during the term. The kids have been inquisitive and very respectful of the out of bounds areas. It’s great to know we will have significant improvements in terms of fire services upon completion.

Parent Teacher meetings: During week 3 of this term an opportunity for families to chat with their child’s teacher is available. We are allocating 10 minutes per child and each teacher will have various times available via the Sentral Portal - Interviews. If you require a longer meeting, please negotiate a time with the class teacher outside of this initial 10 mins. Staff are more than happy to have the student attend the meeting, some of the meeting or not at all if you would prefer.

We see these opportunities as a chance to further develop and strengthen our ongoing partnership with families and celebrate the successes from Semester 1. It’s also a good chance to share some goals for Semester 2 so we are all on the same page and aiming to help our young ones do their best.

Please keep an eye on Seesaw if your child’s teacher has some alternative arrangements for these meetings as we have some on leave or possibly unwell. We appreciate your cooperation.

Mr Horbury and Miss Chadwick who are coordinating all things Sentral, will be setting up the bookings and a notification will be sent out alerting you to the booking platform opening - Monday next week. It will close at 5pm next Friday 22nd July. This gives you a week to book in your times.

Staffing: Liz Charles will finish with us this week in Year 1 to prepare for her second baby. We wish her and the family all the very best and can’t wait to meet the new arrival.

Jessie Clarke is coming back to OGPs to join Liz’s class and will be a great asset to the team. An experienced teacher at OGPS, Jessie will hit the ground running and love the students just like Nikki and Liz.

Mick Armstrong has started in the PE role with Mia guiding him this week. Mia will also finish with us next Friday to welcome baby number 1 to her family.

Disco: Next Thursday is the day our wonderful P&F have organised for a disco in the gym! Looking forward to seeing some great dance moves! Casual dress day with a gold coin donation going towards the Year 6 graduation celebrations.

Parent Helpers training: the third and final training session for 2022 will be held on Friday at 1:40pm in the staffroom. After this training, teachers will liaise with trained parents to get involved with classroom helping. Thanks to all involved. Well done Kerryn and Ann on training approx 70 classroom helpers.

House Aths day: Next Friday, we need you! Well, Mia and Mick need parents to assist at the Year 3-6 Aths day to make it a success and ensure our kids have a great day. Please email or contact the school ASAP! Mia and Mick have planned the day, we have ordered the good weather and just need some parent help! Please be aware the buses will depart at 9am next Friday. Don’t be late!

Rapid Antigen Tests: Ocean Grove Primary School have a supply of Rapid Antigen Tests for students. Please click this link to access the Order Form

Thanks for a terrific start to term 3. Have a great week.
