Creating skilful images

Artwork (LtoR) by Monica Cespedes and Christopher Nguyen

Operation Art 2018

Operation Art is the premier state-wide Visual Arts exhibition for students in NSW. It is a unique contemporary children’s exhibition which encourages students to create artworks for children in hospital. Operation Art focusses on creating a positive environment to aid the healing and recovery process of young patients.

Early this year four of our successful artists were selected for their outstanding artworks that showcase the high level of achievement and assuredly skilful images created by our talented students. The artworks exploit a wide range of art practices in painting and printmaking.

Special mention must also go to Christopher Nguyen whose artwork titled, The Goddess of Beauty, has been given to the NSW Office of Children’s Guardian to be exhibited in its offices for 12 months and later donated to regional hospitals. Renee Ward’s Red Panda, was selected as an example of Operation Art entries used to illustrate a wide variety of teaching strategies and will be exhibited in offices of the NSW Department of Education and later donated to regional hospitals throughout NSW.  Monica Cespedes was also singled out for special recognition with the awarding of the 2018 Operation Art artwork, selected by Sydney Olympic Park Authority to be displayed on a banner for promotion.

Well done to all budding artists for their generosity and support for the emotional and visual needs of children in hospitals across the state.
