Dedicated Debaters

Our Year 8 Debating are off to the quarter finals

Premier's Debating Challenge

Once again this year our school has taken part in the Premier’s Debating challenge. The Premier's Debating Challenge is open to all NSW government schools, with the aim of developing the public speaking and reasoning skills of students from Years 5 to 12. Cecil Hills High School is proud to have entered the competition with teams from every grade. All of our teams have worked extremely hard at after school training sessions every Monday as well as during their debates.

Our Year 8 debating team in particular has done exceptionally well by making it to the quarter finals and winning against Liverpool Girls High School.

The team went on to compete in the semi-finals against Sir Joseph Banks High School.  This is the furthest our school has ever gone in this competition and we were thrilled to be competing against some very tough debaters. The debate was very close but unfortunately we lost by a very small margin. I am extremely proud of our debaters and the hard work and dedication they have put in this year. As a team we have all learnt a lot from one another and we are looking forward to continuing the competition next year.
