School Sports Victoria Water Polo Competition

On Thursday the 2nd of June our College Water Polo team travelled to Melbourne High School to compete in the inaugural School Sports Victoria Water Polo Competition. After two morning training sessions at Victoria University with Essendon Water Polo Club the students were a little nervous, but also very excited to play this new sport.

The day was a great success and we had amazing results with both teams making the Grand Final!

The boys team were undefeated for the day. They defeated Oberon High School, Melbourne High School and St Bernard’s College, making the Grand Final. In the final they went up against a competitive Melbourne High and won the match 3 to 1!

The girls team also did a fantastic job. They defeated both of Obernon High Schools teams and went into the Grand Final with only one loss against Strathcona. In the final they lost to a very strong Strathcona team but worked really hard and improved their score against them from the first match.

The referees and officials were blown away by how quickly our students picked up the game, skills and tactics throughout the day. They also loved our student’s enthusiasm and are looking forward to having them back next year. Schools Sports Victoria is having an inaugural trophy made up for both teams.

Congratulations on an amazing effort Water Polo Team!
