Jill Kane - Year 3/4

Welcome to the 3/4 Level’s Term 1 Learning Highlights.

As we come to the end of a busy first term, we have taken a few moments to stop and reflect on our learning. We have had so many opportunities to work with new friends, try out different strategies, challenge our thinking and develop new skills.

These are our reflections:

In Religion, I have learnt that Lent is not just about giving up something, it’s about almsgiving and praying too. Scarlett from 3/4LM

  • I learnt that bullying is not a great way to get along. We should make sure that everyone is treated nicely and the same and we should stand up to bullies.  Kristian from 3/4JK

I have learnt that a 3 star persuasive text has to have examples to persuade the audience. Sophia from 3/4DL

  • In Writing, I learnt how to write a “sizzling start” by starting at the moment of action. Anthony from 3/4DL
  • In Reading I have learnt to use the text features to help me understand what I am reading. Will from  3/4JG
  • I learnt that Jesus had his Last Supper with his friends on Holy Thursday and he said, “Take this, this is my blood”  Julian from 3/4JK

In Word Work, I have learnt how to break up the words and sound out hard words, such as words which were used in the past and which are not used now, like shan’t. James from 3/4JG

  • I learnt to show numbers in different ways. 7,856 can be 78 hundreds, 5 tens and 6 ones.  Emily from 3/4JK
  • I have learnt about place value and we used MAB to play a game called “Keep the Count”. Fabio from 3/4LM
  • I have learnt that you can use other materials for place value, like beans, connect cubes and icy-pole sticks, to represent numbers like 3, 842. Iolanda from 3/4JG
  • I have learnt that plastic can be bad for the environment because some goes into landfill, some goes into the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and some goes into recycling and is made into new things. Recycling plastic is best. Amelia from 3/4LM
  • I have learnt that I should recycle more and not litter because if plastic gets into the water, it could kill the sea life. Anna from 3/4DL
