Bishop Curtin Visit

Dear Parents and Friends

Last Thursday we were very grateful to have Bishop Terry Curtin visit our confirmation candidates.  Bishop Curtin was terrific with the student telling them many wonderful stories about the gifts and fruits of the Spirit and about many of the students chosen Saint names. Please remember these students in your prayers as they prepare to receive this special Sacrament on Friday April 21.

Catholic Leaders Mass

Last Thursday afternoon I attended a special mass with Catholic leaders from 30 schools in our region, celebrated by Father Anthony Nguyen. Father Anthony’s homily spoke of the importance of the Gospel values in our daily lives. It was an opportunity for me to reflect on our own school community at St Fidelis’ and how we strive to live like Jesus did and demonstrate:

  • Hope –we are positive and inspire each other to be our best
  • Respect –we value and look after each other
  • Excellence – we strive to be our best in all we do and say.  We want to reach our full potential and support others to reach theirs
  • Inclusion – we welcome everyone and we all belong to our wonderful Parish community
  • Compassions – we show care and respect to each other
  • Equity and Justice – we show compassion and inclusion to everyone we meet and demonstrate hope for a better world for all
  • Stewardship – we look after and respect all of God’s creations

Stations of the Cross

This Thursday commencing at 10:00 a.m. all classes will gather in the church for the Stations of the Cross. This will be a special time of prayer in preparation for Easter. Parents and friends are most welcome to join us.

Old Photos

As a part of our 90th celebrations, we are gathering some old photos of the church and school. We are particularly looking for photos earlier than 1970. If you have a photos, we’d be grateful if you can bring them to the school office so we can take a copy.

Easter Raffle

Our Easter Raffle will be drawn at our special assembly this Friday at 12:45 p.m. just before pick up time. Extra raffle books are available from the office. Please return all tickets to school by this Wednesday.

School Closure Day Term Two

We have our first school closure day next term on Friday June 9. This is the Friday before the Queen’s birthday long weekend.

End of Term One

As this is our final newsletter for the term, I would like to express my appreciation to all of our students on completing a very productive term of learning. The students should be proud of all they have achieved and I know they are looking forward to a well-earned rest. A special mention to all of our Prep students who have completed their first term of school and have just been sensational! We are very proud of them all. A special thank you to all of our staff who work very hard to ensure all the students achieve the very best that they can, and are well supported in their learning.

This Friday is the end of Term One and school will finish at 1:00 p.m. Term Two commences on Tuesday April 18th (Monday is Easter Monday holiday).

If the weather is still mild, I am happy for students to continue wearing the summer uniform when Term Two begins. Generally from May 1st, we require all students to wear the winter uniform. During the holidays, it is a good opportunity to check to ensure that your child has all the required items for our winter uniform.

I wish all our families a happy Easter and a safe and relaxing holiday.  We ask St Fidelis to bless our Parish School Community and help us to all to be ‘Always and everywhere faithful.’
