Five Fun Facts!

Meet Naomi and Daniel!

Naomi Reynolds

Meet Year 2 teacher Naomi! She's a lover of books, ice-cream, hugs and movies... but not necessarily in that order!

Would you say you’re more of an extrovert or an introvert?

I’m definitely an extrovert now. However, as a child I was incredibly shy so I think I’m making up for lost time by speaking to as many people as often and as quickly as I possibly can!!

Was the last thing you read/best book you have read?

I love to read and have been in a book club for many years. I’ve just finished reading Sorrow and Bliss, by Meg Mason. It involved some serious themes but also had a lot of humour. A really great read!

What's your favourite ice cream flavour / topping?

My favourite flavour of ice cream is ice cream! No seriously, I absolutely love ice cream and don’t think I’d turn any flavour down. There’s an ice cream shop close to my house that serves so many delicious flavours. Butter pear is the most interesting one I’ve tried so far. A friend went to a restaurant where they served vegemite ice cream though… I’m not sure that sounds like such a good idea.

Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching at home?

Well, as we know at the moment there isn’t much choice on this one! But when we can, I love going to the movies and disappearing into another world for a little while. And of course, there’s the choc tops!

What's one thing that can instantly make your day better?

My day is instantly made better by a hug with one of my sons, Oliver (9) or Charlie (6)! Also, a cup of tea and some chocolate definitely have their place!

Meet Daniel Arnavas

Daniel, one of our Year 6 teachers, is an early riser with a penchant for the past and podcasts!

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

At the local playground with my girls and a babycino, latte and some banana bread in hand!

Are you into podcasts or do you only listen to music?

Podcasts are my thing! I listen to NBA basketball podcasts to and from work, each and every day without fail. GO LAKERS!

What was the best vacation you ever took and why?

In 2009 I went to Europe with my wife (partner back then) and we visited countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland and Italy. It was so memorable because it was the first time I had been to Europe without my parents and we both organised the whole two-month trip by ourselves all online. It was such an eye-opening experience!

Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?

Coffs Harbour or Byron Bay are high on the priority list in terms of travelling locally. I have not seen enough of NSW and think it is such a beautiful state. In terms of international travel, I am very keen to visit Japan. I admire their culture and advancements in technology!

What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them?

Running is a hobby that has stuck with me from about 12 years of age (although I am more inconsistent with it now days with two kids). My dad got me into running, he used to make me run 3-4km every Saturday to keep fit. Initially, I dreaded it and struggled. However, by the time I was 15 I used to beat him and really took a passion into it. My dad was a marathon runner in his 20’s and 30’s so this did inspire me! Another hobby is playing futsal (indoor soccer). It is a great way for me to connect with my friends each week and I love how tactical the game is to play.

What was your favourite age growing up?

17. I was in year 12 whilst I was 17. It was just a year like no other where my life was at such an important stage. I made the most of that year, enjoying my high school, friendships and celebrating the completing of year 12.

In the summer, would you rather go to the beach or go camping?

I am a beach body. Ever since I was a toddler my family took me to the beach in Rye each and every summer. I love relaxing on the beach in the sun and hearing the waves, it calms me instantly. It is my happy place.

What's one thing that can instantly make your day better?

My two beautiful kids Mila and Frankie AND my two beautiful dogs Bella and Winston. A big cuddle, kiss or smile from either of those 4 and I am happy : )

What is your favourite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?

I love the morning in a day – between 6 – 9am in particular. I have always been an early bird and just love the idea of getting up early and seeing the sunrise knowing there is so much of the day still to come. It is also wonderfully quiet in the mornings, which is just so relaxing and soothing.

If you could travel into the past or future, where would you go? Why?

The past. I have always said I would love to go and live in the 60’s. I especially love the simplicity of living back then and the little details such as the beautiful cars.
