TAX DEDUCTIBLE BUILDING AND LIBRARY FUNDS
As tax time is approaching, parents/guardians are reminded that donations to Vermont Secondary College’s Library Fund and Building Fund are Tax Deductible and the College welcomes donations of any size.
While we have received the pre-planning funds for a new gymnasium, and are hopeful the rest of the funding will soon be granted, the majority of this funding will go towards the planning and construction of the building itself. The college will need to provide the extra funding for furniture, weights equipment, tiered electronic seating, any heating/cooling requirements, overhead projectors etc. for the gym itself, the weights room and the two classrooms within the complex.
Direct deposits to: BSB 313-140; Account No: 12050892, Account Name: Vermont Secondary College. Please use your child’s student code as the identifier. All money raised is used to enhance facilities for your student/s. Receipts will be forwarded to you for tax purposes.
SCHOOL BUSES
There is a major concern with the amount of students getting on the school buses in the main driveway each afternoon who do not tap on. Also on occasions when a staff member has stood beside the MYKI machine many students have no MYKI card with them or they possess an invalid card i.e. no money on the card.
Can parents/guardians please ensure that their child is using the card correctly by tapping on and that the card is topped up and valid. Also, please remember that all students must wear a mask when on a bus or on other forms of public transport.
UPCOMING EVENT & KEY DATES
VSC MID-YEAR REPORT WRITING DAY – FRIDAY 11 JUNE, 2021
Parents/guardians are also reminded that Friday 11th June is a pupil free day - no classes will run.
Vermont Secondary College will be using the day as an Assessment and Report Writing
Day and students in Years 7 – 12 are not required at school.
VCE SENIOR SOCIAL - FRIDAY 11 JUNE, 2021
The college will again hold its Annual VCE Senior Social that commences at 7:00pm and concludes at 11:30pm at L'Unica on Parkville, 476 Brunswick Road Parkville.
Naturally this event on this date will be dependent on the current state of play around the current COVID-19 restrictions so please watch this space. If the event is not able to be run, our intention would be to reschedule it, but again this will depend upon ongoing and/or future COVID-19 restrictions, venue availability, time of year, ongoing costs to the school, students/families etc.
Parents who are collecting students from the event are requested to arrive well in time for a prompt departure at the conclusion of the evening, mindful of the distance of the venue.
Your consideration and punctuality would be greatly appreciated. Parents must arrange for the collection of students between 11:30 and 11:45pm.
Students who are not picked up by 12 midnight will be sent home in a taxi at their own expense.
Further, students and guests are strongly advised to have a warm coat to wear to and from the social.
It is to be remembered that many senior students are under the age of 18 and therefore activities such as ‘after parties’ are not endorsed by the college.
The well being and safety of your child is of paramount importance and my recommendation would be that all students return to the family home following the social to a fully supervised adult environment.
