Rostrum Voice of Youth

 ‘Life in colour’,

On Sunday May 16th, Andrew Temple competed in the Rostrum Voice of Youth senior student competition at St Monica’s College in Epping. Rostrum Voice of Youth is Australia's premier public speaking competition for secondary students. The competition provides secondary students with the opportunity to gain experience and confidence in expressing their views and communicating their message.

Andrew delivered a pre-prepared speech titled ‘Life in colour’, before delivering a short notice speech for the semi-final on ‘If I could press rewind’.

For the semi-final, competitors were allocated only ten minutes to prepare a speech on an unknown topic. Andrew was successful in the first round and achieved runners-up in the semi-final section.

The Rostrum Voice of Youth organisation was moved by his story. Andrew represented the school proudly and put a lot of effort into preparing and researching for this speech. The adjudicators said that he had great potential and hope to see him compete next year.

Mackenzie- Runciman in 7D also competed in the junior heats of the voice competition. Mackenzie loved the experience and showed great effort and determination by entering herself and preparing a speech.

Well done to both students for giving up their Sunday and having the courage to share their voice and stories with others.
