St Xavier's Athletics Carnival

The Athletics Carnival will be held on THURSDAY 24 June. More details will follow closer to the day.

Diocesan Cross Country

On Friday 7 May, 48 students travelled to Barraba to compete in the Diocesan Cross Country. St Xavier's students had some wonderful results and PB's.

A special mention to our 10 year old boys who won the age trophy!

Joshua Spinks- 1st in 8/9 year boys

Sienna Edmunds- 2nd in 11 year girls

Ted Sheedy- 3rd in 11 years boys

Imogen Torrens- 3rd in 12 years girls

The following students placed in the top 6 of their age group and have progressed to the NSWCPS Cross Country to be held at Eastern Creek on Tuesday 8 June:

Ruby Cygan, Joshua Spinks, Lara Torrens, Maggie Brown, Angus Simpson, William Stevenson, Sienna Edmunds, Katie Spinks, Edward Sheedy and Imogen Torrens.

 

Diocesan Gala Day

Schools are invited to send teams in Netball, Soccer and Rugby League to the Diocesan Gala Day in Inverell on FRIDAY 11 June. 

The Gala Day is a great opportunity for students to represent the school at a fun and inclusive competition. All abilities are invited to attend. Please note, this day is optional and not compulsory for students to attend. Boys and girls can nominate for all sports and teams will be mixed ability except Opens League which is a pathway opportunity for the winning team to attend regional finals for the ICS Schools Rugby League Knockout in Port Macquarie.

We will need Team Managers in all sports and umpires/referees for soccer and netball. 

Transport will be by bus. Bus- DEPARTS 5.45am, RETURNS approx 5.30pm. It is the policy at St Xavier’s School that when a bus is provided for a school activity, all of the children attending will pay for the bus whether they travel by bus or private vehicle. 

Cost will be $35.00. DO NOT PAY NOW. Once we have received expressions of interest, an official permission note and payment details will be sent home. Soccer must have shin guards. League must have mouthguards and headgear is preferable.

Quirindi Horse Sports

Tomorrow we have five students attending the Quirindi Horse Sports with Mrs Guy, good luck all!

Diocesan Rugby Trials

Best of luck to the eight students who are travelling to Tamworth on Monday to compete for a position in the Diocesan Rugby Team.

Polding Touch Trials 

Next Friday 28 May, Jazmin Hobden will head to Port Macquarie as part of the Diocesan Touch Team to compete at the Polding Touch Trials. Jazmine was selected into the Diocesan Team late last term. 

Mineworkers Cup

Today, we have 39 students at Longmuir playing Fields competing in the Mineworker's Cup. This is an annual event organised by NSW Rugby League and National Rugby League, which involves competitions of tackle league and league tag.

Polding Softball Trials

There are no trials for Softball at School or Armidale Diocesan level.

Parents can register their interest via the google form linked below. Once their expressions of interest are received they will receive a selection letter with further details about how to register their child on the CSNSW website.

Girls Rugby 7's

Girls Rugby 7's do not have trial dates for the Armidale Diocese due to the lack of numbers. Those interested in trialing for Rugby 7's must apply to the CSO Coordinator of Sport (K-6) via this link. These applications will be reviewed and successful applicants will be progressed straight to the Polding Rugby 7's Trials. Information and eligibility requirements for the Polding Rugby 7's Trials can also found here.

Students must display exceptional skills in the chosen sport prior to applying. 

The Polding Rugby 7's Trials will be held on Friday 23 July- venue to be advised.
