Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of our hardworking, ever-patient, and extremely wonderful Mums for last Sunday.  We hope you had a fabulous day.

 

English - Images of War

During Literacy groups, Year 5 have been enjoying studying Images of War that is based on activities relating to World War 1.  Students have been focussing on the book by Jackie French called "The Beach They Called Gallipoli".  Year 5 have also been preparing and working hard on persuasive texts and narratives in readiness for their NAPLAN writing and reading tasks this week.  We wish all the students our best wishes for their NAPLAN assessments during this week and next week. 

 

Religion

Students have been learning about the Easter Vigil and its richness in symbolism, that include: The Service of Light, The Liturgy of the Word, The Liturgy of Baptism and The Liturgy of the Eucharist.  Year 5 have also been concentrating on the Key Symbols of the Easter Vigil that include: Light, Water and the Paschal Candle.  

 

Athletics Training  

Over the past three weeks, Year 5 have had the privilege and honour to have the expert coaching of Jay Stone.  Jay is an incredible athletics coach that has passed on his knowledge and expertise to the students in readiness for the athletics carnival later in the term.  We look forward to seeing the students achieving their personal best results at the carnival.

Art Show                       

For the Annual St Mary's Art Show, students in Year 5 have submitted two artworks.  The artworks were called "Positive and Negative Spaces" and "Coming Together".  We look forward to hearing and congratulating students who have received awards in the Art Show.
