Classroom News - Year 3

Miss Archibald and Miss Potgieter

Welcome Miss Potgieter

With Mrs Johnson now on maternity leave, Miss Potgieter has commenced teaching in the Year 3 class. She has enjoyed her first week at St Mary's and the children have welcomed Miss Potgieter into our class and our school community.

NAPLAN

Well done to all of our Year 3 students for completing their first NAPLAN assessment. The writing assessment is now complete, with Reading, Language Conventions and Numeracy assessments being completed in Week 5. All students are to be commended on their positive attitude towards these assessments and for doing their personal best. Just a reminder, students will require their own headphones for the remaining assessments, as they will be conducted on the school Chromebooks. Please ensure that your child has working headphones as part of their equipment for school.

Art Show

Year 3 entered a selection of amazing artworks into our school Art Show. Whilst we are still awaiting the formal announcement of this year's winners, the children should all be immensely proud of their artistic efforts.

Cross Country

Several Year 3 students travelled to the Diocesan Cross Country in Barraba last Friday to represent St Mary's, all putting in an enormous effort. Congratulations to those students for making it to the next level of Cross Country.

Athletics

Over the past two weeks, Year 3 have participated in Athletics lessons with Jay Stone. The students practised shotput, discus, long jump and high jump. With their newfound skills in Athletics, the students are ready to compete in events at the upcoming whole school carnival later this term.
