Week 8 Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for another great week of remote learning.  As per previous lockdowns our number one priority is the wellbeing of your children. We encourage all parents to monitor their children and to make the necessary adjustments based on their specific needs. Please reach out to your child’s teacher for further advice or assistance.

As you are aware, the lockdown restrictions currently in place will continue. Unfortunately, this means that all primary school students in metropolitan Melbourne will remain in remote learning from Friday 4 June until Thursday 10 June, with exception given to students

  • Where both parents and or carers are considered authorised workers
  • Vulnerable children

Existing arrangements for on-site supervision of vulnerable children and the children of authorised workers continue to be in place. While an extension to the lockdown in metropolitan Melbourne is not what we had hoped for, we must all play our part in minimising the risk of this virus spreading further in the Victorian community. Thank you for everything you are doing to keep our school community safe.

At this stage, this Friday, the students are due to return to school. On Friday, the students will all engage in a Wellbeing Day with their class and teacher. The structure of the day includes:

  • Circle time Check In (reconnecting with their class friends and teacher)
  • Thinking Routine to discuss Students likes, dislikes, worries and recommendation for future lockdowns!
  • Whole school viewing of the "Say No To Bullying Say Yes to Respectful Relationships" Virtual Awards in support of our three students who are national finalists
  • Wellbeing activities such as mediation, cooking, dance, art or craft

On this day we aim to reassure the students that we are here and listening to them and their needs. Teachers will monitor the students over the coming weeks and adjust their program accordingly.

Interrelate Poster Competition

A huge congratulations to George L  (Year 5/6 )  Priscilla M (Foundation) Madalen (Year 1/2 ) who are national finalists in the Interrelate “Say Not to Bullying –Say Yes to Respectful Relationships “ Poster Competition. This is an amazing achievement to be in the top 40 finalists in Australia.  In support of our three students, the whole school will watch The Virtual Awards in their class.  We wish our three students the best of luck. No matter the result, we are very proud. Thank you to Mr Frazzetto for organising our students to participate in this event.

Building Update:

Our upgrades and refurbishment are still on schedule to be completed in August. Some of the major works this week has been removing and replacing our windows facing the Hawthorn yard with safety glass and the installation of new doors. Most of the electrical works is almost complete. Framing for walls and sliding doors between classrooms are almost complete. Here are some photos for you to view.

Special Thank you

A special thank you to all the parents who are juggling many things such as: educating your child, work commitments, family life, caring for elderly etc. during this time. Please be kind to yourself, as your children need you healthy and well. If you require any assistance to support you, please do not hesitate to reach out to your classroom teacher or myself. All your efforts are greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon.

Take care and stay safe

Manuela
