From The Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a busy couple of weeks.  It was only last week that we were able to start using our brand new stadium. Our PE classes have been able to access the new area and towards the end of last week our Digitech classes also started in the new classroom. We hope to move our DASH program across there in the next week or so. This week we will hold our first assembly in the new stadium which will be handy given the weather forecast.

Last week our Grade 4s attended camp at Cave Hill Creek and had a wonderful time. It was great to see our students in the outdoors co-operating in teams and having a break from digital devices.  I would like to thank our Grade 4 team and the staff that assisted on the camp.  Many of our staff have families of their own so to take them away for 2 nights is an extra effort.

Education Support Day

Last week we held a morning tea for our Educational Support Staff to recognise Education Support Day.  Education Support staff work to keep our schools running, support our students to learn and our teachers to teach and our office to run effectively. The focus of Educational Support day is to let Educational Support Team know how much they are appreciated and highlight the value of their work in our school.

MORNING SUPERVISION

Our morning supervision commences each morning at 8.40am. We provide staff to two main areas of the school at this time and expect that once students have been dropped off at our school at this time they become our responsibility.

The two areas that staff are placed are :

· In the P-2 area around the playground and synthetic area

· In the Grade 3-4 playground and undercover area

The Grade 5-6 area is not a supervised area in the morning.

ATTENDANCE

Learning at Delacombe PS begins at 9.00am.  The first bell rings at 8.50am.  After the music ends students should enter the building via the office as they are considered to be late.  They will be issued with a late pass that they can give to their teacher.

This process allows us to account for students who are here, while reinforcing our 9.00am learning time.

When we talk about good attendance we aim for a figure like 95-100% (under 8 days for the year). This rate of attendance allows for maximum learning potential and opens up a wide range of future life choices.

Have a great week

Scott and Marnie
