Fantastic French

Bonjour tout le monde!

This term, students are looking at the topic of La durabilité (Sustainability).

Grade 5 and 6 have been using Languagenut to learn, practice and test vocabulary on the topic of Environment and subtopics such as:

 Le changement climatique, l'energie solaire, être vert, la pollution and le recyclage.

Students have a username and a password to log in and these log in details have been assigned in class. The school is paying an annual subscription for this app. and  students and their parents can use it use it as a learning and revision tool at home.

 Grade 5 and 6 are completing weekly tasks to prepare for a test in week 7 on the topic of  La durabilité (Sustainability).  Some students have achieved very high scores in these weekly tasks already and our school is gaining points to get higher on an international leader-board. When I took a screen shot of the topics, you can see on the top of the right hand side of the photo that BPPS had reached 98 on the international leader board.

The points are only valid for 30 days and then they rest, but how wonderful would it be if we got to number one?

For Languagenut to be fully successful it is really important that students bring their headphones to French to listen to the recordings on Languagenut  as they learn their new vocabulary. Please encourage them to have earphones with them for every French lesson.

This week we have been talking about what makes a good student and we discussed the positives of learning another language. Skills such as listening, perseverance, organisation, application, consistency and challenging yourself and are all skills that can be easily transferable to other subject areas.
