Technology and Applied Studies (TAS)

This faculty has many areas and subjects taught by the staff. 

 

In Year 7 and 8 students study Technology and are exposed to a variety of different units in the following areas: 

• Agriculture & Food Technologies: GPS Cows, Delicious Dairy, Thrive & Grow 

• Digital Technologies: Crack the Code, Anki Cars 

• Engineered Systems: Mechanical Toy 

• Material Technologies: Windvane, Getting Carried Away, Happy Dreams 

 

The skills learnt in Year 7 and 8 are then be used and further developed in Year 9 and 10 when they chose their own elective subjects where they refine and build on what they have learnt in Year 7 and 8. 

• Information and Software Technology; 

• Food Technology 

• Industrial Technology – Metal, Timber & Maintenance, Engineering 

• Textiles Technology 

• Child Studies 

• STEM 

 

Some subjects studied in Year 11 and 12 that could be a path to university include: 

• Community and Family Studies 

• Design and Technology 

• Exploring Early Childhood 

• Food Technology 

• Information Processes and Technology 

• Textiles 

• Industrial Technology—Metals & Engineering, Multimedia 

 

Also in Year 11 and 12 skills are further developed and can lead to apprenticeships and traineeships in the following areas: Construction, Hospitality, Kitchen Operations, Metals & Engineering, Information & Digital Media Technology.
