Subject Area
Subjects in Year 7 - 10
One of the most exciting thing about Year 7 is having specialised subjects. It can seem overwhelming at first but you will get used to it.
Year 7 and 8 students follow a mandatory curriculum that is largely determined by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All Year 7 and 8 students study:
- English
- Science
- Mathematics
- Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
- Australian History and Geography
- Visual Art
- Music
- Language.
You must make a suitable effort in ALL subjects.
Each term students will also study a different Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) subject. These rotate all the way through to Year 8. Students will study:
- Food Technology
- Textiles
- Wood Technology
- Metals Technology
- Agriculture
- IT (Computer Studies).
Years 9 and 10 study
- English
- Science
- Mathematics
- Personal Health Development and Physical Education (PDHPE)
- Australian History and Geography
- Choice of three electives.
Years 11 and 12 must study English and are able to study five other subjects that are offered for their HSC.
Keeping a Diary
It is very useful to keep a diary so that students can keep track of homework, assignments and important dates.
Examination Periods at High School
For Years 7 - 11 there is an examination period in Semester One and Semester Two. It is important for Year 7 students moving from primary to high school to understand that they will be examined on classwork for many subjects during these half yearly and yearly exams.
STUDY TIP:
Keep up to date in all classwork and work consistently to achieve your best outcomes in these exams!
