Principal's Report

By Roger Blackwell

Hi everyone, my name is Roger Blackwell, I am a resident of the valley for almost 30 years now and have a strong connection with Mount Beauty Primary School, both of my boys have attended MBPS. I have been in the Acting Principal role on other occasions and really enjoy the opportunity to connect with the students on a longer term basis and engage with families to support their child's learning. In a work sense I come to MBPS from the role of the Campus Principal at Outdoor School's Bogong campus which provides a very different workplace structure compared to mainstream schools in some ways but very similar in many. I am looking forward to being able to meet as many people within the MBPS community as possible over the next 4 weeks while I am in the role, please don't hesitate to catch up with me at any time, thanks.

Our annual swimming program will commence next week.  We have delayed the start of our school swimming program by a couple of days in the hope that the pool water will warm up over the next 5 or so days, fingers crossed for next Wednesday. Many thanks to Step for her organisation and to all the swim coaches for their support with providing this program.  For more information, please refer to the Swimming page of this newsletter.

The MAT Program has come to an end. Thank you Guy for travelling from Melbourne each Friday to offer this program to our year 3-6 students.

At the beginning of term 4, a 6 week tennis clinic continued with Geoff Hollow. All students in each class had an opportunity to learn and expand on their skills.  I would like to thank Geoff for offering this program to our school and look forward to future clinics in 2023.   For more information regarding ongoing tennis lessons, please refer to our Community notices.

Our Congratulations to Amalie on correctly guessing last week's music theme of 'Instrumental'.  Another great dance party was held on Wednesday, with all our students joining in the the fun.  There is no doubt that this has quickly become a highlight. Thanks to the Music Master and her Music Mignons!

Members of the Student Executive at Mount Beauty Secondary College visited our school last week selling handcrafted Bali bracelets to raise funds for the Bali Street Mums Project. The Bali Street Mums Project aids women and children in providing essential resources directly to where they are needed, focusing on empowerment, through education, housing, skill development and nutrition. This project provides women and children living on the street the opportunity to handcraft bracelets.    Sales from our students raised $650. Thank you for supporting a worthy cause.
