SAKG

This week's Kitchen Garden sessions were the last for this year, as we take time to tidy and clean the kitchen and garden over the next couple of weeks. To celebrate another fun and productive year in the kitchen, the students had some fun creating reindeer biscuits and gingerbread biscuits in anticipation of Christmas festivities to come!  The photos I've attached speak for themselves. Clearly, more is more when it comes to decorating treats!

Thank you to each and every person in the school community who has given us some time in the kitchen, whether it be through volunteering in sessions once or regularly, produce or material donations and for every kind and positive comment about what we do. I strongly believe we are providing children with so many valuable skills in a kitchen garden learning environment which develop their self esteem. A strong sense of self and the confidence to take small and incremental risks (eating an unfamiliar food, using a new piece of equipment, setting a table correctly, cleaning up your kitchen space, interacting with an adult not known to you....I could cite so many examples) builds an amazing foundation for learning and life. Thank you for supporting us in providing these valuable opportunities to the students of WHPS. It's not just about cooking!

A reminder that we will be holding a mini-market on the deck outside the kitchen on Monday, December 12th from 3.15pm. Come along to purchase some excess garden produce, baked goods and preserves and maybe some fresh eggs! Cash only, please. All proceeds go back into the Kitchen Garden Program
