Student Wellbeing &

Learner Diversity

The Wellbeing team at St Luke’s has expanded in 2023. Bella Walker will be assisting two days a week, after our school was successful in obtaining funding for the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) Program.

For more information about this new initiative please follow this link.

The Wellbeing team offers a safe and inviting space for students and families to seek and access support. Support provided follows a strength-based, student-centred approach. Wellbeing support is confidential.

Students can access the Wellbeing support in the following ways:

  • Students can self-refer to Student Wellbeing support.
  • Any staff member can arrange for a referral to Student Wellbeing if they have concerns about a student’s wellbeing.
  • Parents can also request a time for their child by contacting Donna Allen via phone on (03) 58221834 or email at dallen@slshepparton.catholic.edu.au
  • At times, a student may be referred to an external support service. We also respect the fact that some students and parents may prefer to seek professional support independent from the school setting. In such cases, St Luke’s values working collaboratively with external support services. We encourage parents/carers to communicate with the school if there is a significant issue affecting their child’s wellbeing.

The support is provided for many reasons and includes but is not limited by these headings:

  • Emotional challenges
  • Social difficulties
  • Family challenges
  • School refusal
  • Grief and loss
  • Risk-taking behaviours
  • Mental health
  • Child safety concerns

The aim of the role of the Learner Diversity Leader is to support students and staff with adjustments and modifications where necessary to support a student's learning and environment, so that they can best continue their learning journey.

The role also includes:

  • providing relevant parent information and referrals to services
  • identifying staff professional development needs
  • moderation
  • data collection and administrative roles for the NCCD (National Consistency Collection of Data) that supports the funding within the school. If you are interested in more information about NCCD, please visit the website NCCD Portal

More information can be found here.

Please feel free to contact Donna via phone on (03) 58221834 or email at dallen@slshepparton.catholic.edu.au if you have any questions or require any information.

Cheers,

Donna and Bella
