Arts Festival
What a wonderful evening we shared together to celebrate the Arts Festival. It was exciting to see so many families join us for the occasion.
Our Year 6, 7 and 8 Food Technology students contributed to the evening by making our Trio of Truffles, including chocolate, mint chocolate and chocolate cherry. They were also really excited when they learned that these were handed out to families during the evening.
Students who continue to demonstrate a service approach to their learning, and who are understanding when asked to make food for the community, continue to inspire me. Known experience tells me they really enjoy being able to taste what they make and to put this aside at a young age is commendable.
Their efforts and support were very much appreciated.

This year students returned to the school full-time after the COVID chaos, and yet again students across Years 7 to 12 have demonstrated dedication to Art and allowed their creativity to shine through. Students across year levels have been in the artroom during lunchtimes to finish off, or continue on with their artworks.
Students of particular note for their dedication and desire to improve in Art are;
Hunter in Year 7, who took on the suggestions for his work throughout the year and came in during many lunch sessions to continue his tasks. Savannah in Year 8, who spent many lunchtimes continuing with tasks and altering her work. Henifha in Year 9, who was always seeking to improve her work, and Makiah in Year 10 who’s desire to finish his fantasy sculpture led him to the artroom in his breaks to finalise his work. In Year 11, Dom demonstrated her dedication to Studio Arts by spending every available moment in the artroom and seeking out assistance for any issues that arose from her sculptural pieces.
Finally, Riley in Year 12 pulled out all the stops in his final semester. He not only managed to produce some beautiful work, spent many study periods, lunchtimes and afterschools in the artroom. Through his hard work and dedication, it has led his work to being shortlisted for the Top Arts Exhibition in 2023.

Digitech students in Years 6 and 8 focussed on the design process across the second semester. Year 6 students worked in teams to design, prototype and build workable robots to battle in the battle arena. The entire class created and collaborated to come up with possibly their favourite project all year! Year 8’s consistently achieved far above what was expected, Kosala, Dot, Harry and Violette all went above and beyond their interactive digital activity, creating entire video games!
Mr Glover
The Music department has had an exciting year! Coming back after COVID, we had lots of interest from students and parents in our instrumental tuition program; so much so, that our total enrolments more than doubled! We would like to thank our team of instrumental teachers for their fantastic work with students, and for sharing their passion for music.
With more students learning to play, the department hosted a variety of musical performances throughout the year. From our Open Day showcase in Term 1, Winter Recital in Term 2, and the recent Arts Festival in Term 4. The College provided wonderful opportunities for our students to present their learning and perform in front of a live audience. As well as this, our Musical in Term 2, Singin' in the Rain, allowed students to take to the stage in the beautiful Cardinia Culture Centre.
Thank you everyone for your support of the Music department. With the year now done, we look forward to hosting even more musical experiences in 2023!

Wow, what a year we have all had and how fast did this whole year go?
Needless to say, here in our Visual Art lessons we have been busily exploring and experimenting in our lessons together; sharing adventures and carving creative memories with developing our fine motor skills. Lots of NGV online incursions throughout this year and the Grade 6’s visited The Lume Museum to see the Monet exhibition.
We are all ready with a strong vision for 2023 and an eagerness to start building it. In our continuing efforts to deepen students to think like an artist, our goal is to continue giving students strong skills, work ethics, to creatively think during their own artistic practice.
I will continue to share all the learning and creativity on Seesaw with you to your child’s learning journal.
Mrs Niewand
I would like to personally thank our dedicated teachers, Leonie Vaughan, Ruth Page, Jacob Keirnan and John Glover for their continued efforts and the additional time they gave to make this event happen. Each member of the Arts team brings a special talent and style and to what we do in our classes with the students. It has been an absolute pleasure to work alongside them this year and share in the excitement of planning for this event, and having it happen!
Lastly, thank you to our students and families who came along to celebrate the Arts. Your support means the world to us and we hope you enjoyed the evening just as much as we did.
We pray you all have a blessed Christmas with family and loved ones, and look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.
Many Blessings,
Carolyn Niewand and the Arts Faculty
