Leadership

No 10% Duds here!

I would just like to assure parents that Newlands Primary School is full of fantastic staff. We have very dedicated teachers and educational support staff, who work tirelessly providing engaging learning activities that stretch our students. As principal I’m incredibly privileged to work with, and support a staff, which is so focused on developing their teaching craft as lifelong learners.

After an incredibly difficult two years dealing with the pandemic, our teachers and support staff did all they could to provide learning activities via video, something we had never had to do before.

Teachers are agile and adaptive, the last thing I would call them are duds! We all appreciate that there are some people who are teachers who would be better suited to other work environments, but to suggest they are duds is disrespectful.

Maybe educational funding could increase by 10%. Now, there’s a thought!

Ride to School Day

Ride to school day has been another annual success this year. Raul did a fantastic job organising the activities and engaging the students to improve their riding skills and safety when riding with others.

Teacher Absence

I realise this has been a continuous message nearly every week this term. As previously mentioned, our preferred model is to replace teachers with another teacher, however it is becoming increasingly difficult to get teachers. If teachers are unavailable, we will continue to split grades. Let’s hope next term is better in this regard.

Air Purifiers

As the media release indicated schools will be receiving additional air purifiers. Newlands will be be given additional purifiers for term two.

End of Term reminder

School finishes 2.30pm Friday 8th April.

If parents need to access after care on this day as a casual user, you will need to book as there are limited spaces available on this day.

Newlands Out of School Hours Program - Update

Rhonda will be commencing her maternity leave as of the first day of term two. Bronia will administer the program and Courtney will supervise the program. To accommodate Rhonda's absence we will employ additional staff for her absence. In the interests of continuity we believe this is the best solution for the remainder of the year while Rhonda is on family leave. We will provide more operational details as we come closer to the end of term one.

4-6 School Camp

Next week the students will be off to enjoy the sights and sounds of seaside. We wish them a great adventure and enjoy the experience.

For those families who are still needing to pay in full, please make payment in full prior to Monday 28/03/2022. We understand that we live in busy times however we fully expect that your child’s attendance on camp is paid in full prior to the camp.

For those families who have paid in full, thankyou and ignore this message.
