Sustainability at St Raphael's

BUSY BUSY BUSY!

It's been a hive of activity in Sustainability this term with the students from Year 1 to Year 6 preparing gifts for our first ever HOMEMADE Mother's Day Stall.  Children have participated in activities  during their sustainability sessions and during investigations in addition to volunteering their time during lunch to join Garden Club. Our growing number of Garden Club members is a sure sign students have enjoyed getting creative and we have no doubt our Mum's will be proud of the effort the children have put into preparing these special presents.

Here's some of what our Garden Club members had to say of the experience:

"My name is Jessica Collins and I'm in 5/6A.  I really enjoy going to Garden Club and making amazing things.  It's so calming and you can learn new things.  I love experiencing new things in the garden.  It's fun communicating with other people."  Jessica Collins 5/6A

"I loved making presents for Mother's Day in Garden Club."  Ava H 5/6B

"I really enjoyed making the pressies for the mothers.  It was FUN! Lilyana 5/6J

"I love Garden Club.  It was very fun and exciting!"  Sienna C 5/6B

ST RAPHAEL'S PASSATA UPDATE

Last term our Year 5 and 6 students participated in making homemade tomato passata at school.  We have entered our precious passata into the Darebin homemade food and wine festival competition and keep our fingers crossed.  The festival will be held this year from the 26th May to the 3rd June.  A representative from the festival came to visit us on Passata day and created this fantastic video clip of our fun filled day.   Click on the following vimeo link to see our students in action!
