How many watt hours does it take to run a movie night?!
Come on down for a fun family friendly night of entertainment featuring musical acts, face-painting pedal powered rides, carnival attractions, food stalls and information stalls.
All the coffee, popcorn and sweet treats are carbon offset and the entertainment is 100% carbon neutral!
Thanks to the City of Yarra, this community event is free to the public. Please bring along your small change for Raffles, games and carnival rides. All proceeds go to energy efficiency and solar electricity programs to help MGC become carbon neutral.
The Inaugural “Community Cup” will be awarded for the team of four who pedals or rows the most energy in five minutes. Register a time slot early here: https://bit.ly/2WEAsuW or sign up on the night.
Our students will pedal all day to store the energy to run the entertainment on our giant outdoor projection screen, but we will still need your help! Gates open at 5pm when patrons are invited to jump on our specially constructed human pedal or rowing generators to see how much power they can generate.
Come on down and see if you can pedal enough energy to power your home TV!
The MGC community love a dress up!
Come along down to the pedal cinema dressed as your favorite INCREDIBLE or Super Hero and be in the running to win the costume competition! Bonus points awarded to creative costumes- especially Super Heros who have environmental super powers! Prizes awarded for best-dressed attendee. Follow the theme of “The Incredibles” and dress up as your favorite superhero or make up your own character to join in the fun.
A free Sustainability expo will be held from 5-8pm featuring demonstrations and talks from local sustainability organisations. Come on down and learn how to compost, care for our local biodiversity, save energy and avoid food waste!
BYO picnic and drinks or buy from the food stall. Pre-order at www.boccafoods.com.au to make sure you don’t miss out!
Pedal Power Cinema needs some People Power!
How can you contribute?
Every year the raffle has some amazing prizes. 2018 included a hot air balloon ride, Zoos Victoria family passes and some fabulous sustainable goodies. Do you know of a business that could donate an item or experience. Perhaps your family would like to purchase or make something to donate? If so, please contact Ms Hosking.
Choc Toss (or is it a Lob Choc?)
Please grab tasty chocolate treats (bigger bars = less packaging!) when you see them on sale and donate to the Choc Toss. Drop off at Science Office.
