Accreditation

The school has successfully run the Year Level Accreditation days for this year and we thank parents and guardians for their participation and supportive comments on the changes we have made to the process. These days are important for the school and its community as we can support families in managing the documentation and school fee payments associated with transition to the next school year. We would like to thank the many Educational Support and Teaching Staff who were involved in implementing the Accreditation days which ran across the months of November and December.

We strongly encourage all our Year 12’s to contact Mr Jon Korteum, Ms Cathy Armstrong and Ms Colleen Lynch during change of preference week to either confirm their course selections, or to revise them as needed.

VCAL Award: NAB $20 Boss Program

Congratulations to our Year 12 VCAL students who were the recipients of the NAB $20 Boss Award. Students were provided with $20 each, and then through hands-on experience these mini entrepreneurs planned, budgeted, marketed and ran their business idea building innovation, enterprise and financial literacy skills in the process. VC Delights, the café managed by VCAL students was a hit this year, selling delicious meals at lunchtime to fellow students.  A huge thanks to Ms Marlene Cassar and the VCAL teaching team for their support of these students.

Dance Spectacular

Year 9 students showcased their amazing talents as dancers and choreographers in St Albans Secondary Colleges’ 4th Annual Dance Spectacular.  The event was organised by dance teacher extraordinaire, Ms Tania De Silva, and supported by Mr James Orchard and the middle school team as well as some visiting professional dancers. Students performed a variety of dance styles ranging from street dance to salsa. The sheer joy emanating from the students was infectious and resulted in rapturous applause from their peers at the end of each performance.  The flexibility and core strength of the students certainly impressed us all in the much anticipated grand finale, the Limbo Rock. Well done to all the students who participated and a big thank you to all staff that supported this event.

Return to school – Term 1, 2016

As in past years the start of the school year will be split across 2 days to allow for staff to run induction sessions and ensure that the year gets off to a strong start for staff and students.

On Thursday the 28 January students in Years 7, 10 and 12 VCE are required to attend the school.

On Friday the 29 January all students are required to attend the school.

Students are expected to be in full uniform and ready to commit themselves to their studies.

Parents and Guardians are reminded of the school’s expectations that students will have their own personal digital device that they can use to enhance their learning. Information on purchasing a device is available on our school website or parents can contact the school for support and advice.

Thank you…

We would like to thank most sincerely our teaching and education support staff for their generous commitment to their work, and their hard work and dedication in supporting our students and their families in many different ways throughout the year.

Thank you, too, to the members of the School Council for the time, experience and thoughtfulness they bring to their role, and to the Council President, Mr Wally Gatt, for his wonderful leadership of our School Council.

To our families and parents, thanks to all of you for your support this year, and to our community and business partners for championing our school and so generously supporting our students.

To Assistant Principals, Mr Ian Crocker, Ms Losh Pillay and Mr Craig Jennings, your leadership and support are outstanding.

And, of course, to the most important people of all, our students who make St Albans Secondary College such a great place to work at - thank you!

We wish each of you a happy, peaceful and safe holiday season and look forward to welcoming you back in 2016.
