Senior School Report

Although VCE and VCAL classes have concluded, there has still been plenty of activity in Senior School. Teachers have finished their reports for Semester Two and Orientation for next year’s Year 11 and Year 12 classes has been conducted. This year, we moved to a two week orientation program for the upcoming Year 12 students, as we believe that this will prepare them more thoroughly for their Year 12 studies in 2016.

If you have a student going into Year 11 or 12 next year, please ask them about the Holiday Homework which they will have received during Orientation. Holiday Homework has been set for all VCE subjects, and students will have some hours of work that is due in on the first day of classes in 2016. It is expected that this homework is completed on time so that the classes can begin smoothly. If homework is not completed, students will be required to stay back after school in the first week to finish the work.

Students and teachers participating in the Year 11 Queensland Camp left Melbourne by bus on Thursday 3th December and returned on Wednesday 9th December.

For many of the students it was the first time they have not been so far north in Australia. The camp stayed in accommodation at the Gold Coast Sports Super Centre located in Runaway Bay and participated in some specially organises leadership training sessions run by the staff there. Students also had the opportunity to attend the major theme parks on the Gold Coast and do some shopping at Cavell Avenue in Surfers Paradise. As safe and happy trip was had by all!

The VCE Results were released on Monday 14th December and again this year the college achieved even better results.  This year 29% of our Year 12 students seeking ATAR scores gaining a score of 80 or higher. This is an improvement on last year’s results, as in 2014 19% of students seeking ATAR scores gaining a score of 80 or higher. On Wednesday 16th December the college hosted a Morning Tea for our High Achievers to celebrate this outstanding success.

Additionally, find following the list of our high-achieving Year 11 Students of 2015. We have great hopes for these students in 2016.
