State Swimming Finals

On Tuesday, the 17th of April, Jack Carr represented Staughton College at the School Sports Victoria State Swimming Championships. Jack had previously qualified through the Western Ranges Division in 5 events.

 

Jack is now the Victorian 17 Years State Champion in 50 m Freestyle, Butterfly, Backstroke, 200 m Individual medley and 100 m backstroke! Jack also set a new state record in the 50 m Freestyle, with a time of 24.44 seconds. Staughton College also placed 23rd out of 125 schools in this competition.

1st Place: Boys 17 Years 50m Freestyle (24.44seconds)

1st Place: Boys 17 Years 50m Butterfly (26.18seconds)

1st Place: Boys 17 Years 50m Backstroke (28.40seconds)

1st Place: Boys 15-20 Years 100m Backstroke (1:01.55seconds)

1st Place: Boys 17-20 Years 200 I.M (2:20.40seconds)

 

Jack is still yet to represent the college at the All Schools Championships at MSCA on Monday, the 7th of May, where he will join a combined Victorians State Schools team to take on other Catholic and Independent schools from around Victoria. We wish Jack the best of luck for this competition.

Jack has recently returned from Nationals in Sydney where he competed in the 2018 Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Swimming Championships. Jack placed 3rd in the 17-18 Years Male 100 m backstroke and 8th in the 200 m backstroke, setting new personal bests along the way.
