Spark Engineering Camp

Spark Engineering Camp
Spark Engineering Camp is an initiative of not-for-profit group Youth Without Borders. Spark is a week long university experience camp specifically for students who face barriers to realising or reaching their potential. The students undertake a weeks worth of personal development, hands-on engineering and social activities. By providing insight into engineering, belief in their potential and first hand access to current university students during the week, Spark hopes to bridge the gap between school and further education.
If a student applicant is successful, they receive a full scholarship to the camp including travel.
Camp Locations & Dates
Successful applicants will attend one of two Spark Engineering Camps. The camps are held in the June/July school holidays in Brisbane and Melbourne. The Brisbane Camp will be held at the University of Queensland – St. Lucia campus from July 9 – July 14
The Melbourne Camp will be held at the University of Melbourne – Parkville campus from July 2 – July 7
Who Should Be Nominated
This camp is aimed at students who face barriers to pursue further education and realizing their potential. This camp is primarily aimed at:
- Students that teachers see great potential in, however the students themselves do not realise this potential and this camp would provide an opportunity for them to be inspired in the direction of tertiary education
- Students who have a desire to pursue further education but struggle to see how they can overcome their current situations to make it happen.
How to Apply
Nominations are open to Year 10-12 students (as well as students in similar senior schooling programs such as tertiary preparation programs). Applications are due by 5pm Friday 11th May 2018. To apply there is a two part application form – which can be located on our website: http://spark.ywb.com.au/students/
