Principal's Report

Literacy Week
Literacy is a ‘gateway’ skill for all other learning. Improving literacy improves learning in all subjects. At Staughton, we have been working hard with students to ensure they have strong literacy growth each year. Some of the strategies we use include our daily literacy tutorial groups, explicit teaching of the skills of comprehension, and vocabulary development. One way we celebrate literacy is our Annual Literacy Week.
This week we have celebrated with events such as:
- The Amazing Race
- Staughton’s Annual School Spelling Bee
- Literacy games in the library
- Staff versus Students Debate
- Daily writing competitions and a quiz
I would like to congratulate students and staff for their enthusiastic participation in this week’s activities.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
