Festival of Music Choir
On Tuesday, 20 September 50 of our students performed on stage at the Adelaide Festival Theatre as part of the Public Primary Schools Festival of Music. Our school was also represented by Delaney who was selected to sing a solo.
The Primary Schools Festival of Music is an iconic South Australian tradition that engages students in artistic excellence, cultural diversity and social inclusion through performance in Music and the Arts. This year the Festival’s 9 concerts feature Year 5 and 6 students. To commemorate this significant change, students sang about this "revolution", Annie Kwok wrote the song “Who Knows?” and Dan Walker was commissioned to compose a set of four songs entitled “The Space Between Us”. It is not just about the space that exists above our heads, but the space all around us.
During the concert, there were a number of guest artists from public primary and secondary schools, other choir items that presented different musical genres, and two pieces that specifically showcased the talents of the orchestra. It was a spectacular event that our students enjoyed being a part of.
"Hello I am Delaney and I was a soloist at the Festival of Music. My experience as a soloist was the best experience I have ever done in my life!! I got to sing a song called “You’ve Got a True Friend.”
I got to go to another room with all the other soloists to sing. When it was my turn to sing I got to go backstage 1 song before mine and got handed a microphone. I was a bit nervous but when I started singing all my nerves went away. I couldn’t see anyone because the spotlight was so bright but that didn’t bother me. It was amazing to perform and I was really happy to get the solo.
Thank you to Mrs Raeside for letting me audition for the solo and helping me along the way. Also thank you to everyone for believing in me." - Delaney SC
"Choir was so exciting and thrilling. When I walked onto the stage and the curtains dropped, all my nerves flew away which led to the best night ever! I loved every song that we sang and the performances and instrumentals were amazing. Thank you Mrs Raeside for allowing me this awesome day and all the hard work you put into this to make it happen. This will be a night I will never forget." - Madison T
"Choir was so fun as we sang awesome songs that were really catchy. There was the best dancer in the troupe and even an aerialist who did an amazing trick high above the ground. The whole thing made people gasp and clap so loud, I honestly think that the choir and everyone loved it and they would want to do it again. Thank you Mrs Raeside for giving us this opportunity and making it so fun." - Sophie H
