25th Victorian Teacher Games
COOKIE STRIKES GOLD
During the first week of the school holidays, our very own Technology Teacher Mr Cooke, ventured down to Geelong for the 25th Victorian Teacher Games. Held from Sunday to Wednesday in a friendly sports orientated atmosphere, you could enter anything from Trivia, Table Tennis, Darts, Amazing Race, Golf, Dodgeball, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball and even Ultimate Frisbee, the list just goes on.
Mr Cooke was lucky enough to snag four Gold medals and two Silver medals. Three gold in laser skirmish, one gold in lawn bowls pairs, one silver in lawn bowls singles and a silver in the bomb dive comp. Some years you play like a super star and are lucky to get a 4th in anything. The following year you do the same efforts and can snag some gold, it’s all fun and games and the luck of the draw really. Please don’t mention the word lawn bowls as threw all my toys out of the cot (well on the inside anyway). After smashing the field in the lawn bowls pairs the day before the form was hot.
Arrived for the singles and they stuffed up the draw as a couple of people didn’t make it. To keep the teams even they grabbed a club bowler to help out who wasn’t a teacher. This bloke was amazing and dropped them within a tea towel for the whole match. Ended up just pipping him by one shot with my last bowl. Won my three games but lost the gold medal on a count back on shots up over the three matches.
Not a happy cookiemonster considering the bloke was a jet / this was his club so he knew the greens / not even a teacher and he was busting his guts trying to win. Arh well you can’t kick with the wind every quarter and have the next 12 months to get over it and bounce back.
Mr Cooke 😊
