Junior Ducks Fly High at State

Sensational team play again by both the year 8 teams, resulting in another exciting and fantastic adventure to the State Finals.  The girls team lead superbly in the qualifying rounds to finish on top of their pool.  They played teams from Colac, Leongatha and Keysborough.  This set up a cracker of a semi final match against East Doncaster, who just had that little bit more experience on the big stage.  

The girls' team combining from Michelle, Ana, Amber, Stefani, Hine and Naomee, just keep improving with every minute.  Considering their very short time in the sport and the fact they’ve come from tennis, cricket and basketball backgrounds, they’ve certainly taken to it like a duck to water!  What an amazing effort ladies finishing 3rd in the State!!!

The boys' team who have always trained the house down and have so many players vying for spots, fought very bravely all day.  The lads made the semi-finals after solid matches in their pool rounds against Balmoral, Leongatha and Keysborough.  In the semi’s they came up against Maribyrnong Badminton Academy and we set out goals to try and win at least 30 points. 

We came back with 35 points so it was high fives all round against such talented opposition.  Awesome stuff from the lads who never ever gave up to finish 4th in the State!

It was so much fun coaching all the teams this season and I really enjoyed seeing you all up and about and enthusiastic.  I hope the mighty ducks have even more fun next year and hopefully see a few new faces at training.
