Book Week 2022
This year's theme for Book Week was "Dreaming with Eyes Open" and was celebrated between August 29 - September 2. Teachers dressed up as their favourite book characters and students and staff entered fun and challenging competitions with this theme in mind.
Below are our competition winners:
The winners of the student "Dream" competition, in which students drew or described their goals or dreams, was a tie between Batul Ibrahim of 11B and Izzi Braddock of 7B, who described their dream careers with great enthusiasm. Well done, girls!
The winner of the "Student Book Matching Challenge", in which students had the difficult task of matching teachers with their favourite childhood book, was Hanan Al-Musawi of 12C, who got 3 matches - an awesome effort!
Watching and listening to the thought processes students went through to guess, was very intriguing. Questions were asked, an elimination process was designed and deep discussions were overheard in the hope that someone could guess correctly. The results reflected how reading interests can vary and cross-over genres. My 'dream' book was "Harriet the Spy" because I was always so curious as a child which eventuated into my career as a Teacher Librarian - forever curious yet it could have been so many other books that were on the list.
Reading can help you escape into a dream world, understand how dreams work or guide you with your own dream. We encourage you to explore our library here: https://au.accessit.online/EPP00 and find a book that helps you dream with eyes open.
The winners of the "Staff Book Matching Challenge" tied between Hans Mulholland and Helen Krionas. Both matched 4 books to teachers - great work!
And finally, the winner of our Staff Dress Up Competition was the magnificent Maleficent herself, Mrs Rivera!
An honorable mention goes to Helen Krionas for her clever "Wolf of Wall Street" effort - well done, ladies!
Whether you dressed up or was involved with our celebrations and competitions, we'd like to thank you for a fabulous Book Week 2022.
We look forward to an even bigger Book Week 2023 with the goal of having whole school participation, so start planning.
