Term 4 Week 2 – Friday 28th of October

The foundation students have all settled back in wonderfully for term 4.

What we are learning in weeks 5&6:

Reading: 

Studetns will get an opportunity to create their own non fiction book about themselves as well as continue to look at the differences between fiction and non fiction texts. As always, we will continue to deepen their comprehension skills. 

Writing: 

In writing we will conclude our information reports and introduce the text type narrative.  Mondays will continue with weekend recounts and preps challenging themselves by increasing the number of sentences they write. 

Spelling: 

We are still introducing words of the week as part of our SMART spelling program. Each Monday is met with much anticipation as preps all try to guess the word of the week before it is revealed! 

Mathematics:

Maths this fortnight will see preps being introduced to money and begin to learn about telling the time through both analogue and digital clocks. 

Inquiry/Science:

Our Inquiry/Science unit this term is weather. Students will be looking at weather all around the world. We will also receive a visit from Mad about Science where the students will participate in some fun experiments. 

Leader in Me:

We have created our personal and academic WIGS for this term as well as our class mission statements. These lessons will continue by discussing our 7 habits and how we can facilitate and support ourselves and our peers in different situations. 

Take home readers and blue pouches

Please continue to check blue pouches nights for notices sent home.  We encourage nightly reading of student readers. 

Friendly Reminders & Dates to Remember

* Monday 31st October – Student free Day.

* Tuesday 1st November – Cup Day Public Holiday. 

* Friday 4th November – Prep Students visit the Gould League (on site at LePage) to learn about “Earths Treasures”

* Wednesday 16th November – Mad about Science. Thankyou to the families that have paid, if not please can you organise this and return permission slips?

* Please remember to please bring in Sight words EVERY Friday. We are noticing not all students have their books each week. 

* Hats are required for term 4, please be sure your child has a hat otherwise they will need to sit undercover in the shaded area during recess and lunch.

* Please continue to pack a fruit snack and a recess snack even if your child has a lunch order as these aren’t delivered to the school until 1pm
