Art & Gardening Clubs

From little things, big things grow

We having been having a wonderful time lately and I would like to thank Mrs Murphy for continuing in my absence.

This week we prepared some little pot plants for Mrs Hyslop.

The children in Art Club over the past few weeks painted and decorated many small terracotta pots. She then asked if we would help her plant them out.

These cute little pots and their various succulents will be available for sale at next week's Art Show along with some of the vegies we have been growing at school.

So don't forget to bring some coins along to purchase some lovely gifts for yourself or someone special.

You can see our handy work on the window sills in the Art Room.

Before the Holidays we visited the Bayside Nursery to see how our cuttings were growing.

Julie and Jim were thrilled with our first visit and pleased to see us back again.

Our cuttings had grown roots and we potted them out into tubes.  When we come back again we will be able to bring our plants back to school and we hope to fill in some of the bare patches in the garden where children have trampled.

We also learnt about pruning and shaping plants. It's was like giving a haircut. Julie showed us how to prune so that bushes and trees can grow in a particular shape.

We pruned almost the whole trolley load and Jim was pleased to see the job done.

A tonne of fun and learning. Julie and Jim were fabulous again and we look forward to going back. Well done Gardeners!

Big shout out to Annabel and Ava too, they planted out some of our left over seedlings to fill in and beautify this space in the B.E.A.T. area. As we said at assembly, please be mindful of our gardens and don't walk on the plants.
