From the Principal

Our Vision

Each child has a gift or talent. It is our job to find it and to show it to them.

Our Mission

Identify the talent, develop the confidence and create the leader.

What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?

Welcome back to term 4! This year is flying by and there is so much left to look forward to as the weather warms up and rain hopefully stays away. The students have settled back into school routines quickly and the staff can see their use of the habits in their interactions with their peers.

George will be back from long service leave next week after spending some time in the Northern Hemisphere. We look forward to having him back and can’t wait to hear all his travel stories.

Nick Duckett, our Year 5-6 teacher and his wife Lisa welcomed a baby girl over the holidays. Nick will be on parental leave until the end of next week. Hannah Jackson, who completed her teaching placements with Le Page has been the class teacher while Nick has been enjoying time with his newborn daughter Claudia. Anna Ottersbach continues working with the 5-6 students to keep their routine consistent, calm, and positive.

Our much-anticipated Colour Run has been postponed this week because of all the rain we have had making our school oval very soggy. I know this has disappointed everyone, but we plan to have it next Friday. Fingers and toes are crossed for some dry weather so everyone can participate in this fabulous event.

On Monday the 24th of October we will be having a special assembly at 3:00pm. Nick Staikos, member for Bentleigh will be coming to present a community award to a Year 6 student. If you can come along, please do.

Chess club started today, as the Colour Run was postponed. This 8-week program will be held from 2:00-3:00 for students who have enrolled. We have 22 students participating which is excellent. I can’t wait to see how their chess skills sharpen over the 8-week period.

Le Page has welcomed two new staff members to the team. Aimee Vuong is working with the Prep team 3 days a week in an education support role. Wendy Sheppard is working in the office 3 days a week while Heather Gillott is on leave. If you see them around, please introduce yourself.

All year levels have a planned incursion or excursion this term. Foundation students have a weather incursion, Year 1-2 are going to Scienceworks and Years 3-6 are going to IMax and the Melbourne Museum. All notices went home this week (except Year 5-6, which will be sent home next week), and we now have B-Pay to make paying for excursions easier. If you misplace your excursion note, please contact Brooke in the office as each note now is individualised with a B-Pay code. It is wonderful that students are now able to get out and about and enjoy excursions with their friends and teachers.

Finally, thank-you again for all your support while George has been on leave. Have a wonderful weekend and stay dry!
