P & C News

GIHS P&C are very pleased to have been able to support the school and its students in the last couple of months.

Three seating shelters have been purchased by the P&C. These are already providing extra seating on the oval with shelter and have the flexibility to be moved.

The current Year 11 have just received their Year 12 Jerseys this week and they look great. The P&C assisted by subsidising the cost to the students. We wish them all the best for their final year at GIHS.

Athletics/ Running school singlets have also been purchased for the school by the P&C. It was identified that the school didn’t have school singlets for runners for Cross Country North West trails or to wear if part of a GIHS relay team at North West Athletics carnivals. These singlets – both in men’s and ladies' cut designs will also be able to be used for other team sports: Basketball or Touch as an alternative to the existing GIHS Team Sports T-Shirt styles for Gala Days, Knockout games, and Trials.

Thank you to the students who willingly modelled the new jerseys and Team Sport Shirts for the pictures included.

Ready for Summer, the P&C has also provided the School Cricket teams with GIHS cricket polo shirts and ten white cricket pants. The first knockout cricket game is this week with the Open Girls taking on Tenterfield in Glen Innes at Lynch Oval. We hope you enjoy wearing the new GIHS cricket team uniform.

The next P&C meeting is on Tuesday 1 November at 7 pm. We wish to welcome any parent/carer of the school body or community so we can represent and support the GIHS students fairly. We currently have a few projects that we are working on with the school; including upgrading the Old Hall to a Performance Centre. This involves a purchase of a Grand Piano and there will be a fundraising launch in the New Year to support this. 

The P&C is also supporting the School with the Welcome Back 2023 event. Please consider attending the meeting on Tuesday 1st November- this is the last one for the year. Your input and contribution will be valued. Meetings are set for the first Tuesday of the month – only during school terms. NB - please like the GIHS P&C Facebook page.
