Merbein Community Plan

The Merbein Development Association, in partnership with Mildura Rural City Council, are inviting residents to review and provide feedback on the draft Merbein Community Plan. 

Feedback is being sought from Monday 3 October to Monday 17 October 2022, with the draft plan developed over several months following consultation with residents, sporting groups, school groups and businesses.

The plan sets out a five-year vision for the Merbein township, with consultation determining several key priority areas.

These include:

•           Ensuring Merbein is a high-quality residential area for retirees and younger families

•           Creating a vibrant and connected community where a full range of health, community, cultural, recreation and education services that are accessible for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. 

•           Create a lively and attractive main street precinct that not only provides for locals but also attracts visitors. 

•           Ensure children and young people are engaged, connected, and supported through easily accessible recreation and social activities.

•           Ensure that children are safe to grow up, build friendships, engage in sports and other recreational activities. 

•           Ensure that good quality schooling, kindergarten and day-care programs are maintained.

•           Ensure more GPs and healthcare providers are welcomed into the community.

•           Create a sense of community

•           Regain vibrancy while holding on to the town’s small community feel 

•           Encourage businesses to be viable with support from new and older community members

All actions items fall into seven themes, including safety, health and wellbeing, township improvements, advocacy, recreation, promotion/tourism, and environment.
