Year 8 Civics

Riot, Rampage & Reform - Sem 1

The work being completed by our Year 8 Riot, Rampage & Reform class culminated in an active citizens project.

This project required students to choose a controversial legal issue, research the current law on their issue and present arguments for and against changing the law.

Once they had done that, students went about investigating the ways they, as an active citizen, could change the law they were investigating.

This involved students writing letters addressed to either Suzanna Sheed or the Hon Damian Drum (MP), creating petitions, forming their own political party and deciding on the policies they would stand for and even creating their own informational websites to inform the community of their issues.

Congratulations to all for a job well done!
