Motivating your child for Remote Learning

Our wellbeing team recently came past an excellent article from REACHOUT that discussed how to talk with you child about engaging in remote learning.  We know that transition to remote learning can be very difficult for many students, because it creates uncertainty and anxiety.  The article discusses supporting a child back to school, but I think it highlights a number of things that parents and carers can do to support their child during this time.  Some suggestions included:

  • Starting a conversation about the change.  Provide time to talk about what is happening.
  • Don’t be lopsided and just talk about the negatives.  Its important to talk about the positives as well.
  • Get in contact with the school.  We are here to help.
  • Work out a plan and take small steps.
  • Create healthy media habits and take breaks.

Your not alone, many people are in the same boat and reaching out for help and support is the first step to working on plan.  Please get in touch with our wellbeing team on each campus is you need additional support.
